Tom Mader

Tom Mader currently serves as CTO at ClassGenius, a position held since January 2024. Previously, Tom held advisory roles at X, the moonshot factory (September 2023 - August 2025) and served as COO at OpenLight (April 2022 - April 2023). From August 2019 to March 2022, Tom was the Head of Silicon Photonics at Juniper Networks, and prior to that, the CTO at Klue (April 2018 - July 2019). Significant contributions at Lab126 included directing the Concept Engineering team that developed several innovative products, while Tom's role at Picarro, Inc. as VP of Engineering involved overseeing hardware and software engineering initiatives. As CTO at Radiient Technologies, Tom also served on the Board of Directors. Earlier in Tom's career, important projects included founding Light Peak at Intel and directing engineering at LightLogic, resulting in advancements in high-speed optical communication technologies. Tom holds a BS in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
