Deborah Nathanson has had a long and varied career in the field of deaf and hard of hearing services. Deborah began their career in 2000 as a Workshop and Training Specialist at the Missouri Commission for the Deaf. In 2001, they were hired as the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Domestic Violence Program Coordinator at CSD of Minnesota. In 2005, they co-founded and owned L5, LLC, where they served as COO. In 2015, they were hired as Policy Manager at the Maryland Governor's Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Most recently, in 2018, they were hired as Chief Development Officer at ClearMask, LLC.

Deborah Nathanson obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Deaf Studies from Gallaudet University between 1992 and 1996. Deborah then went on to pursue Graduate Credits in Liberal Studies, Public Policy & Leadership, and Organizational Development and Change at the University of Minnesota between 1998 and 2002. Finally, they completed their Master's Degree in Women's and Gender Studies from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011.
