Ryan McGuinness

Technical Specialist - Mechanical Design at ClearMotion

Ryan McGuinness has worked in the engineering field for over 10 years, beginning with a Co-op Engineer role at Flowserve in 2006 and 2007. Ryan then moved to Westinghouse Electric Company as an Engineer in 2009. In 2011, they worked as a Design Engineer at L. B. Foster Rail Technologies, Inc. where they were responsible for a new wayside friction management system. From 2012 to 2016, they held various roles at PdV Motorsports, LLC, including Owner. During this time, they focused on motorsport-related product design and consulting. In 2016, they became the Director of Suspension Development at Strange Engineering. From 2013 to 2018, they were a Shock Design Engineer at Penske Racing Shocks, where they were responsible for the development of Formula 1 shocks, inerters, and hybrid units. Ryan also developed new layouts and custom components to fit various race cars. In 2018, they began working as a Principal Mechanical Engineer at ClearMotion, where they are the Mechanical design and packaging technical lead for all current and prospective customers. Ryan is also responsible for developing full actuator mechanical specifications based on customer requirements.

Ryan McGuinness obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University between 2003 and 2009. Ryan is currently enrolled in a Web Development program with Treehouse. Ryan has also obtained several certifications, including Situational Leadership II from The Ken Blanchard Companies in November 2020, Matlab/Simulink Bible from Udemy in April 2020, MATLAB Fundamentals for Automotive Applications from MathWorks in March 2020, Tolerance Stack Analysis using GD&T from STOLTER LLC in July 2019, and GD&T from STOLTER LLC in May 2018.
