Kirk Hoaglund has a long history of work experience, beginning in 1982 with Control Data Corp. as a Technical Project Leader. In 1989, they took on the role of Technical Development Manager and Technical Representative for the UNIX Workstation Planning Taskforce at ICEM Systems, Inc. In 1994, they became the Chief Technology Officer and Founding Board Member at Parrot Technologies, Inc. Kirk then moved on to become the Chief Technology Officer and Board Member at SpaceLease.com in 1998. In 1996, they became a Board Member at Professional Network Services, Inc. and in 2001, they became a Board Member at Oconus.com. In 2012, they joined the Board of Directors at Morton Cure Paralysis Fund. In 2019, they co-founded Orpheus Music Project, a music production company based in the Twin Cities, and became a Founding Board Member. Most notably, they have been the Chief Executive Officer, Principal Consultant, and Founding Board Member of Clientek since its founding in 1992. Clientek is a socially responsible company that donates 5% of its net income to local charities and further supports them through pro-bono efforts in IT and management assistance.

Kirk Hoaglund attended the University of Minnesota from 1978 to 1982, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
