Mario Cannone

Mario Cannone, GSP, currently serves as the Area Manager of Health & Safety at Cleveland-Cliffs, a position held since January 2019, where responsibilities include leading the Field Verification of Critical Controls Program and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. Previously, Mario held roles as Section Manager of Health, Safety, & Security and Program Manager for Safety & Environmental, focusing on regulatory compliance and safe operational practices. Mario’s career began as an Associate Safety Engineer, implementing safety processes, and includes an internship as an Occupational Health & Safety intern at NLMK USA, where safety orientations and hazard assessments were conducted. Mario's practical experience in steel manufacturing operations was gained during summers at NLMK USA while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management from Slippery Rock University.
