Michael Orobona

Michael Orobona is a retired Chief Geologist at Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. who possesses world-class expertise in the geometallurgical characterization of beneficiation-grade iron ores. They graduated with a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1991 and earned an M.Sc. in Geological Sciences from Queen’s University in 1996. Michael's previous experience includes significant roles at Newmont Mining Corporation, where they worked on gold and base metals exploration and mine geology projects from 1992 to 2002, as well as various management positions at Cleveland-Cliffs. They are a Certified Professional Geologist through AIPG and currently serve as a Mentor for the Society of Economic Geologists.
