Randy Hack is a 1969 summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University. He received his MBA from Harvard University in 1972 and began a career in commercial real estate development, eventually founding his own firm and selling it in 1988. The firm operates today as Matrix Development. In 1990 Mr. Hack became President of the Princeton University Investment Company, which oversees Princeton’s endowment. In 1995 he founded Nassau Capital, a private firm with a mandate to invest in private equity on behalf of Princeton’s endowment. Nassau Capital at its peak managed approximately $2.5 billion, consisting of leveraged buyouts, venture capital, real estate, timber and energy investments on Princeton’s behalf. Nassau Capital’s investment program was successfully harvested during the decade 2000-2010, and Mr. Hack continues to engage in private equity investing as founder and President of Capstone Capital, LLC.
Mr. Hack has served on numerous corporate boards including Crown Castle [NYSE: CCI], a major owner and operator of cellular towers. Mr. Hack serves on the board of Harbor Funds, a $50 billion family of mutual funds based in Chicago. From 2002-2014 he served as an Advisory Director of Berkshire Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm. Mr. Hack’s non-profit boards have included The Princeton Medical Center, Deerfield Academy, and The Quebec Labrador Foundation.
