Gavin Miller

Gavin Miller has extensive work experience in the field of software development and application security. Gavin started their career as a Junior Application Developer at Ikthuse Consulting in 2007. Gavin then worked as a Software Developer at Hewlet Packard | Voodoo PC, where they developed and maintained an ERP web interface using .NET.

In 2008, Gavin joined Hemisphere GPS as a Programmer 1. Gavin was responsible for the development and maintenance of the Outback Guidance dealer sales website. Gavin achieved credit card (PCI) compliance for the website and implemented an Agile software development environment.

At Critical Mass, Gavin worked as an Application Developer and played a key role in the development of Nissan USA's CMS system. Gavin also provided technical resources for other projects using the DayCQ system.

Gavin then joined Quadrus Development Inc. as a Technical Consultant. Gavin developed WPF, Console, and Windows Service programs and created the TeamCity build environment for 7 projects. Gavin applied Agile SCRUM methodology and utilized unit and integration tests throughout the development process.

In 2011, Gavin joined RANDOMTYPE Inc. as a Senior Developer and Partner. Gavin was responsible for developer operations and contributed to the company's strategic decisions. Gavin generated a significant portion of the company's revenue in 2012.

Gavin later joined PetroFeed as a Developer and Co-Founder. Gavin managed the company's technical roadmap and architecture and led a team of 9 developers. Gavin also played a role in sourcing and hiring new software developers.

At Lighthouse Labs, Gavin worked as an Intro to Web Development Instructor from 2014 to 2016.

From 2015 to 2019, Gavin worked at Cisco. Gavin initially served as a Software Engineer 3, developing Cisco's on-premise virtual machine product and converting the build project to an automated build using GoCD. Gavin then became a Software Engineer 4 and coordinated with the cloud team to improve the build process and implement change control mechanisms. Gavin also made regular improvements to the main build system, reducing complexity and increasing unit test coverage.

Gavin is currently working at Clio - Cloud-Based Legal Technology. Gavin started as a Staff Software Developer, where they developed a discovery and remediation system for Ruby and Javascript CVEs. Gavin then progressed to become a Manager, Application Security, where they led a team of 5 appsec developers and implemented a crowd-sourced bug bounty program. Currently, Gavin holds the position of Senior Manager, Application Security. Gavin is responsible for overseeing a team and managing projects related to application security, strategic planning, incident response, and assessment.

Gavin Miller earned a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Manitoba, attending from 2003 to 2008.
