John McNellis

John is a partner in McNellis Partners, based in Palo Alto and Sacramento, CA, which he co-founded in 1982. McNellis Partners is a commercial real estate development firm with a primary emphasis on redeveloping shopping centers, retail and office buildings which often occupy prominent places in their respective communities. The firm works on a limited number of new projects and emphasizes cooperative relationships with all interested parties involved in the development process.

John serves on the national Board of Trustees for the Urban Land Institute, and is also a Governor of the Urban Land Institute (“ULI”), and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (“ICSC”). He sits on the national Board of Directors for Outward Bound USA and the board of directors of Rebuilding Together Peninsula. He is a former board member of Lambda Alpha International (Golden Gate Chapter) and the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center.

John is also a monthly columnist for the Registry Magazine and, on occasion, lectures for the ULI, the ICSC, and Stanford’s schools of business and law.

John is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and Hastings College of The Law.
