Ben Turner

Ben Turner has a diverse work history spanning several industries. Ben currently holds the position of Head of Engineering at Cloudburst Technologies, a role they have held since 2023. Prior to this, Ben was the Founder of Galapag.us, an online reputation management system, from 2006 onwards.

In 2022, Ben worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Candy Digital, where they were responsible for setting up data engineering infrastructure and analytics.

From 2015 to 2022, Ben worked at Flashpoint in various roles, including Principal Engineer, Director of Engineering, Engineering Lead, and Software Engineer. During their time at Flashpoint, Ben played a key role in collecting data from the deep and dark web, built multiple collection systems, and oversaw hiring and talent management efforts.

Before joining Flashpoint, Ben worked as an Application Engineer at Vimeo, where they developed user-facing features and implemented redesigns. Ben also worked at The Barbarian Group as a Developer, primarily focused on the development of Cryptstagram.

In 2012, Ben worked as an Engineering Contractor at ChatID, where they built front-end business intelligence tools. Ben also gained experience as a Coding Intern at The Colbert Report, where they worked on devops, code fixes, and feature builds.

Earlier in their career, Ben served as the Social Media Operations Team Lead at TechOp Solutions International, where they led a 24/7 operational team providing situational awareness and social media trend analysis for the Department of Homeland Security. Ben also worked as a Web Contractor for USAID, involved in global development partnerships.

Ben Turner received their bachelor's degree in Classics from The University of Texas at Austin between 1996 and 2000. Before that, they attended Plano East Senior High School from 1994 to 1996. In 2002, they obtained an associate degree in Modern Standard Arabic from the Defense Language Institute. Ben later pursued a Master of Science degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University from 2007 to 2009. Lastly, from 2011 to 2013, they attended New York University where they completed a Master of Professional Studies degree in the Interactive Telecommunications Program.
