Herman Schaaf

Herman Schaaf has extensive experience in software engineering and engineering leadership, currently serving as the Director of Engineering at CloudQuery since June 2022. Previous roles include Staff Software Engineer and Senior Engineer - Open Source at Fastly, Staff Software Engineer at Wayve, and Principal Software Engineer at Skyscanner, where responsibilities included leading a squad in the Data Platform tribe and delivering data solutions with real-time and batch processing technologies. Additional experience encompasses senior software engineering roles at Waygo and Gengo, where contributions included developing OCR technology and a RESTful API respectively. As a founder of IronZebra and co-founder of CHJunction, project management and application development were key focus areas. Herman Schaaf holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a BEng in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Stellenbosch University.
