David Halliwell

David Halliwell has a strong background in cloud engineering and operations. David currently works as a Senior Cloud Engineer at Cloudsoft Corporation since March 2021. Before that, they were employed by Cloudreach, where they held various roles. David started as a Cloud Operations Analyst in November 2017 and then became a Cloud Operations Engineer in May 2018. In this position, they gained expertise in technologies such as Chef and Splunk and worked on improving and automating operations services. Eventually, they transitioned into a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer role in December 2018. In this role, they provided incident management, change management, and improvement services to customers, while also offering technical guidance and support to internal engineering teams. Prior to their work at Cloudreach, David held the position of Senior System Administrator at ION Geophysical from December 2008 to January 2016. In this role, they provided IT services and support, particularly to offices in Edinburgh, and took on escalating support and mentoring responsibilities as they progressed within the team.

David Halliwell attended The University of Edinburgh from 2003 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computational Physics. In addition to their formal education, they obtained certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and HashiCorp. In April 2023, they became an AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, and in April 2022, they earned the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional certification. Prior to that, in January 2021, they obtained the Vault: Certified HashiCorp Implementation Partner (CHIP) certification.
