Derek Szopa

Founder & CEO at CloudSort

Derek Szopa is the founder and CEO of CloudSort. Derek previously worked as a senior manager at Amazon and FedEx, and they also served as a captain in the United States Marine Corps.

Derek has always been driven to achieve success. Derek started their career in the Marine Corps, where they quickly rose to the rank of captain. During their time in the Marines, Derek was awarded the Bronze Star medal for their leadership during a combat mission in Iraq.

After their time in the military, Derek transitioned to the corporate world. Derek started out at FedEx, where they were quickly promoted to senior manager. At FedEx, Derek was responsible for start-up operations at two SmartPost locations. Derek was also selected to serve in a consultative fashion at several FedEx facilities, assessing facility needs and coaching staff through periods of transition.

In 2014, Derek joined Amazon as a senior manager in their Operations Strategy department. Derek spent five years at Amazon, during which time they helped launch Amazon Air.

In 2019, Derek decided to strike out on their own and founded CloudSort. CloudSort is a data management company that helps businesses organize and analyze their data. Under Derek's leadership, CloudSort has quickly become a leading provider of data management solutions.

Derek Szopa has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia Business School and a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of St. Thomas. Derek is certified by Bill Scott Raceway in Evasive Driving Training and by Weapons Training Battalion in High Risk Personnel Course. Derek is also certified by JFK Special Warfare School in Individual Terrorism Awareness Course.
