Matthew Cook

Matthew Cook is a Professor of Innovation at The Open University, where they lead the Future Urban Environments research group. Their interdisciplinary research encompasses urban studies, innovation, urban design, and technology studies, focusing on transport systems, smart energy futures, and sustainable production. Matthew also serves as the head of the Technology and Innovation Management teaching team, creating postgraduate modules that reflect their research interests. Previously, they held various positions, including Senior Regeneration and Sustainability Officer at Bedfordshire County Council and Principal Economic Development Officer at Bedford Borough Council. Matthew obtained a PhD in Sustainability and Innovation Studies from Cranfield University.
