Michael Fernando

Michael Fernando is a Professor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of STEM at The Open University, where they oversee a vast portfolio of educational programs and a large academic staff. Previously, they served as Professor and Dean of Strategic Development at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, leading academic planning across multiple campuses. Michael's extensive academic career includes roles at Northumbria University, Newcastle College, and Manchester Metropolitan University, where they focused on engineering education and research. They earned a PhD in Medical Electronics and Microwave Engineering from Northumbria University and have held various leadership positions throughout their career.
