Neil Edwards

Neil Edwards is a Professor of Earth System Science at The Open University, where they also serve as the University Lead for Sustainability Research within the Open Societal Challenge programme. They previously held the position of Reader in Earth System Science at The Open University from 2005 to 2018 and contributed to various research roles at institutions like the University of Bern and the University of Southampton. With expertise in developing Earth system models and a track record of raising over £20 million in research funding, Neil has published over 90 papers in significant academic journals, demonstrating a commitment to understanding the interplay between environmental and socio-economic systems. Neil obtained an MA in Mathematics from Queens' College, Cambridge, and earned a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Leeds University.
