Peter Hegarty

Peter Hegarty is a Professor at The Open University and Co-Director of its Open Psychology Research Centre. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Psychology from Stanford University. Hegarty previously held the position of Head of School of Psychology at the University of Surrey from 2012 to 2015 and served as Professor of Psychology at institutions including Yale University and the City University of New York. They have authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and two sole-author books, with research interests spanning social and cognitive psychology as well as gender and sexuality studies. Hegarty has received awards for teaching excellence, research, and contributions to equality and diversity.
