Tim Blackman

Vice-Chancellor at The Open University

Professor Tim Blackman is the current Vice-Chancellor at The Open University. Prior to this, they were the Dean and Director of the Wolfson Research Institute at Durham University from 2004-2011, and then the Vice-Chancellor at Middlesex University from 2015-2019. Professor Blackman began their academic career as Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Law at the University of Teesside from 2000-2004.

Dr. Tim Blackman is a sociologist and social policy researcher who earned their PhD from Durham University. Tim also holds a BA (Hons) in Geography from the same institution. Dr. Blackman's research interests include social inequality, education, and health.

Their manager is Baroness Lane-Fox, Chancellor. Tim Blackman works with Devendra Kodwani - Executive Dean, Josie Fraser - Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Malcolm Sweeting - Pro-Chancellor.
