Erik Peterson

Erik Peterson has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Erik is currently the Founder, Director, and CTO/CISO at CloudZero, where they oversee the company's technology and security. Erik previously served as Founder and CEO of the same company. Erik was also a Founding Board Member at Boston Serverless Group. Prior to these roles, they worked at Veracode as the Director of Technology Strategy, Office of the CTO, driving technology strategy and cloud computing initiatives. Erik also held the position of Director of Products, Application Security Center at HP. Before that, they were the Vice President of Products & Research at SPI Dynamics, responsible for driving product strategy and direction. Erik's earlier experiences include roles such as Director of Product Management at GuardedNet, Product Manager and Senior Technical Accounts Manager at Sanctum Inc., and Information Security Manager at Moody's Investors Service. Erik started their career as an Information Security Analyst at SunTrust and as a System Engineer at the US Embassy in Vienna, Austria.

Erik Peterson started their education in 1995 at Emory & Henry College, where they studied Political Science and Computer Science. Erik attended this institution until 1996. Subsequently, they enrolled at Virginia Tech for two years from 1996 to 1998, majoring in Computer Science & Political Science. Erik also obtained several certifications throughout their career, including being certified as a Banyan Vines System Administrator by Learning Tree International in August 1994, achieving Advanced Open Water Diver certification from PADI in April 1990, becoming an AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional through Amazon Web Services in December 2019, and attaining the AWS Certified Developer - Associate certification in November 2017. Most recently, in April 2022, Erik became a FinOps Certified Practitioner through the FinOps Foundation. Erik also participated in training programs offered by Pragmatic Marketing, including "Practical Product Management" and "Requirements that Work," although the exact completion dates are not specified.
