Des McCarthy

Des McCarthy is a seasoned financial services executive currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Microfinance Ireland. With extensive senior management experience in retail and commercial banking, Des has held roles such as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at KBC Bank Ireland, and has served as a Non-Executive Director at both Clúid Housing and The Institute of Banking. Des has demonstrated strong leadership in finance, credit, treasury, and risk management, alongside significant experience in business transformation and stakeholder engagement. Des holds a Master’s in Business Studies with a focus on Banking and Finance, as well as a BA in Pure Economics from University College Dublin.
