Around 18,500 people call the Clutha District home and we get our fair share of visitors too, with the natural beauty of the Catlins and the gold rush history of Lawrence pulling people in.

The district covers 6,334km2, with a largely rural population, although we also have nine urban centres, the largest being Balclutha.
