Mark Nelson

Mark Nelson is a seasoned professional specializing in open source, distributed storage, and high-performance computing (HPC). At Red Hat from 2014 to 2023, Mark served as a Principal Software Engineer, focusing on performance optimizations for the Ceph storage system. Prior roles included positions at Inktank as a Senior Performance Engineer and at the University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute as an HPC Software Engineer. Mark holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and is currently the founder of Species83, which develops homelab hardware platforms for distributed computing and storage. Additionally, Mark is leading research and development at CLYSO and maintains a pivotal role in the Ceph community.
