CM Energy Insight is one senior practitioner — 40 years of direct experience in energy asset development, commodity trading, and infrastructure finance — applied without delegation.

Founded by Chris Moore CEng MBA, in 20178, CM Energy Insight advises investment funds, asset developers, energy majors, and utilities navigating the UK and European energy transition. Every engagement is led personally by Chris, from initial strategy conversation to delivery.

What CM Energy Insight does:

Asset Development — From need statement through planning, permitting, EPC procurement, and commodity agreements to FID-ready investment case. Active across BESS, onshore wind, solar, gas peakers, hydrogen, SMR, and waste-to-value.

Commodity Trading & De-risking — PPA structuring, route-to-market strategy, and hedging frameworks. In a market where BESS frequency revenues have compressed by 70% and REMA threatens wholesale market redesign, commercial strategy is a value driver — not a treasury function.

Infrastructure Finance — Navigating family offices, private equity, banks, MLAs, and development finance institutions to build capital structures that hold at financial close, construction, and beyond.

Interim & NED — Senior hands-on leadership for critical project phases: turnarounds, FID preparation, EPC mobilisation, and board-level independent oversight.

Current advisory focus areas include UK BESS investment, Clean Power 2030 deployment, Grid Connection Queue Reform (NESO Gate 2), the 2026 SMR programme, and flexibility market positioning for the UK's 51–66 GW target.

CM Energy Insight publishes opinionated, timely commentary on UK energy market developments — the analysis that larger firms cannot afford to give away.
