Stuart Thompson has a diverse work experience across various industries and positions. Stuart is currently the Senior Vice President for Government Relations at the California Medical Association since November 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom, serving as the Chief Deputy Legislative Secretary from March 2020 to November 2022, and as the Chief Deputy Appointments Secretary from January 2019 to March 2020. From 2014 to 2018, Stuart was the Associate Director of Governmental Relations at the California Medical Association. Stuart also worked as an Associate Attorney at Miller and Owen from August 2012 to March 2014. Earlier in their career, they had internships at the San Francisco Sheriff's Department, The Trust for Public Land, and Maloof Sports and Entertainment, Sacramento Kings. Stuart started their professional journey as a Project Assistant at Kirkland and Ellis, LLP from July 2007 to July 2009.
