Database Manager at Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus

George Paphitis is currently the Database Manager at the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus. George has previously worked as a museum designer, maritime archaeologist, and archaeologist.

George Paphitis began their career as an archaeologist with the Aşağı Pınar Excavation-İstanbul University in January 2012. George then worked as an archaeologist at the İstanbul Archaeological Museums from January 2012 to December 2015. In September 2014, they began working as a maritime archaeologist with the Sozopol Centre for Underwater Archaeology on the Kiten Excavation (Submerged Settlement) (CrossCoopArch), PROJECT NO. 2007CBI6IPO008-2011-2-089 with the partner KIRKLARELI CULTURAL ASSETS ASSOCIATION – TURKEY). George continued working with the Sozopol Centre for Underwater Archaeology as a maritime archaeologist on the Field School in Maritime Theirtory and Archaeology- (CrossCoopArch), PROJECT NO. 2007CBI6IPO008-2011-2-089 with the partner KIRKLARELI CULTURAL ASSETS ASSOCIATION – TURKEY) from June 2013 to September 2013. From August 2016 to May 2017, they worked as a museum designer on the design and curating of the Lefke Culture and Folk Museum, which is remained incomplete. George has been working as the Database Manager at the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus since May 2017.

George Paphitis has a Doctor of Philosophy from Istanbul University in Prehistoric Archaeology, a Master's degree in Museum Management from the same school, and a Bachelor's degree in Prehistoric Archaeology from Istanbul University. George also has a high school diploma in Social Sciences (Arts) from Turkish Education College. George is certified by the United Nations in BSAFE and by PADI in Padi (Advanced Open- Water Diver).

Their manager is Bruce Koepke, Committee Secretary. George Paphitis works with Hakkı Müftüzade - TC Member, Maria Achilleos - 1st Assistant to the GC Member, and Aylin Soykan - Executive Secretary.
