Paul Smith

Paul Smith is an experienced legal and project finance professional currently serving as the Head of the Energy, Projects & Construction Group at CMS since January 2019, and previously as a Partner and Head of Infrastructure & Project Finance at the same firm since September 1997. With a robust background in advising sponsors, funders, and contractors on infrastructure projects, Paul specializes in project finance arrangements across sectors including defense, healthcare, and utilities. Their career began as a Quantity Surveyor, transitioning to a development manager within Carillion's private finance unit, working on significant PFI projects before requalifying as a solicitor. Paul holds a LPC degree from The College of Law, an LLP in Law from Liverpool John Moores University, and a degree in Quantity Surveying from The University of Salford.
