Tim Saarela

Tim Saarela is a seasoned software development leader with extensive experience in CAD/CAM technologies and digital manufacturing. Currently serving as the Sr Software Engineering Manager at Mastercam since December 2020, Tim oversees software development for a leading CAD/CAM software platform catering to various industries, including moldmaking and aerospace. Prior roles include Director of Software Development and Technology at a digital manufacturing firm, as well as Director of Commerce Software at Protolabs, where leadership extended over global software development efforts. Tim's foundational experience includes long tenures at Jostens, Inc., holding several key positions such as Director of Design and Engineering and Manager of Software Engineering. Tim began a career as a software developer and systems integrator at Electronic Data Systems for General Motors, and holds an MBA in Business Strategy from Auburn University and a BSME in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University.
