Dawn Sawyer

Dawn Sawyer is a News Associate at CNN since October 2024, with a robust background in journalism primarily focused on race, equality, and cultural reporting. Previously, Dawn served as a Senior Enterprise Reporter at The Red & Black Publishing Co., where investigative work addressed important community issues in Athens and UGA. Dawn's experience includes roles as a Digital News Editor, DEI Committee Member, Assistant Editor, and News Contributor at The Red & Black, emphasizing digital content management and diversity initiatives. Additional journalism experience encompasses a position as Black Culture Reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a Ted Turner Maverick Intern at CNN, and a Covering Poverty Reporter at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Dawn began the journalism career with an internship at Gwinnett Daily Post while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia, graduating in 2024.
