John Philp is an experienced professional in the fields of education and media, currently serving as an Adjunct Lecturer at the College of Staten Island, CUNY, since January 2025, where the focus is on helping students develop their professional voice and style. As a Co-Founder, Director, and Writer at A Beer and A Mop Productions since August 2024, John leads a visual storytelling agency that collaborates with mission-driven organizations. John also established and presides over Bad Dog Tales, Inc. since January 2019, which produces mission-driven content addressing critical social issues such as gun violence and voting rights. In addition, John has been an Executive Producer at Splash Studios, Inc. since January 2012, overseeing cross-platform content in science and civic engagement. John has contributed as an on-air guest for CNN since 2019, focusing on political commentary, and briefly worked as an Engagement Producer for Retro Report in 2020. John holds a Master’s degree in Social Journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, completed in 2020.
