Laura Weffer is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in investigative reporting and editorial roles across various prominent media organizations. Currently serving as a Copy Editor, Writer, and Investigative Journalist at CNN since April 2019, Laura has strengthened content quality for CNN Espanol and written for multiple shows. As the cofounder and Editor in Chief of Efecto Cocuyo, Laura has played a pivotal role in its establishment. Previously, Laura held the position of Latin America Editor for The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, where responsibilities included managing investigative journalism efforts in Venezuela. With significant achievements as an Investigative Reporter at Cadena Capriles and political reporting during the Hugo Chávez government at El Nacional, Laura has garnered prestigious accolades like the Gabriel García Márquez award. Laura's educational background includes a Mass Communication degree from UCAB, studies in Latin American Politics, and a Diploma in World Politics from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
