Matt Wells

Matt Wells has extensive experience in journalism and digital media, beginning as a reporter and news editor at The Scotsman from 1995 to 1999, where roles included education correspondent and London correspondent. At CNN, from June 2018 to November 2022, Matt served as Director of Programming and Alerts, overseeing digital content strategy and managing editorial priorities. Additional roles at CNN included Senior Editor of Programming and Executive Editor for EMEA. Prior to CNN, Matt worked at Guardian News & Media in various capacities, such as Live Editor, Media Editor, and Assistant Editor for Guardian US, where significant contributions included launching a podcast department and leading innovative coverage of major news events. Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Combined Honours in French and History from the University of Birmingham.
