Frederic Bechet

Frederic Bechet is currently a Professor of Computer Science at Aix Marseille Université, an Associate Professor at École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal, and a researcher in Automatic Language Processing at the CNRS LIS UMR 7020 laboratory. They completed studies in computer science at Aix-Marseille II and obtained a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Avignon in 1994. Bechet has previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, a lecturer at the Laboratoire Informatique d'Avignon, and an invited professor at AT&T Research in New Jersey, among other accomplishments. They served as the deputy director and then director of the LIS laboratory from its creation in 2018 until December 31, 2023. In 2024, Bechet undertook a CNRS delegation at the International Laboratory on Learning Systems (ILLS) in Montreal.
