James K Utterback, Ph.D., currently serves as a CNRS Research Fellow at the Institut des Nanosciences de Paris, a position held since January 2023. Previously, James was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley from 2019 to 2022, where research was conducted under Prof. Naomi Ginsberg in the Department of Chemistry. From 2013 to 2019, James worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing on excited state dynamics of semiconductor nanoparticles, while also gaining experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry. Earlier teaching experience includes roles at Miri Piri Academy, where A-level chemistry and physics were taught according to the Cambridge International Examination curriculum, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Oregon. James holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with departmental honors, along with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Oregon.
