Jan Matas

Jan Matas is the Director of the CNRS Office in Washington, D.C., a position they have held since 2025. Previously, Jan directed International Relations at Université de Lyon and served as the Head of the Satellite Office CNRS - Université de Lyon in Canada. They have also been an Executive Director for International Alliance and a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley. Jan earned a Master's degree in Geophysics and Seismology from Charles University in Prague and a PhD in the same field from Ecole normale supérieure de Lyon.
