Kees van der Beek is currently the Vice-Provost for Research at École Polytechnique, where they also serve as Deputy to the Provost. With extensive experience as a Senior Scientist and involvement in various academic and research roles, Kees has specialized in Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science, particularly in Superconductivity and Magnetism. Kees has previously held positions at CNRS, European Physical Society, and Université Paris-Saclay, and was instrumental in developing Paris Saclay University and its Graduate School of Physics. They obtained their Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches in Physics from Université Paris Sud (Paris XI) and earned a PhD in Physics from Rijksuniversiteit Leiden.
