Pascal Buresi is a Research Professor at CNRS and has held the position of Directeur de recherche since 2011. They have served as Directeur at the Institut d'études de l'Islam et des sociétés du monde musulman from 2014 to 2018. Currently, Buresi is also a Directeur d'études and Professor at École des hautes études en sciences sociales, as well as Directeur-adjoint of UMR 5648 CIHAM since 2021. Their recent role as Scientific Coordinator for the ITN MIDA project (2019-2023) involved training researchers in social and human sciences, focusing on the impact of digitization on Islam. Buresi obtained a Doctorat d'histoire in Medieval History from Casa de Velázquez after completing studies in Histoire-Géographie at L'École Normale Supérieure de Lyon.
