Robert Stout is a senior executive, lawyer, and policy advocate with over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, having led the development of U.S. energy and environmental policy for bp as its VP and Head of Policy and Regulatory Affairs during both the Obama and Trump administrations. Previously, Stout served as Associate General Counsel, managing legal matters related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and leading a global health, safety, and environmental legal team. Currently, as a Senior Fellow at the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability and at Future 500, Stout works on research and consulting initiatives to promote sustainability and engage diverse stakeholders in energy transition policies. Stout holds a JD from Northwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Ohio University, along with certifications in mindfulness meditation teaching.
