Shelby Kea has a diverse work experience. Shelby began their career in 2011 as a General Sports Lead and Footwear Lead at DICK'S Sporting Goods. In this role, they provided excellent customer service, unloaded trucks, stocked their department, and served as cash register back-up. In 2015, Shelby became a Shipping Receiving Coordinator at Shaw University, where they performed daily counts of packages, picked up mail and packages from the post office, and scanned and put up incoming student and faculty packages. In 2017, they acquired a Certified Weightloss Specialist certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and became a Football Coach at CoachUp, where they trained athletes one-on-one or in group settings. In 2018, Shelby became a Business Owner at Shel Athletics and a Hardlines Lead at DICK'S Sporting Goods. Finally, in 2020, they became an Associate Loan Servicing Specialist and a Customer Service Representative 2 at Wells Fargo.

Shelby Kea has an Associate of Arts degree in Human Services Technology from Wake Technical Community College.
