Coal Retreats is a private-hire luxury chalet in the Louron Valley of the French Pyrénées , six en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 14, with an optional private chef and world-class skiing and cycling on the doorstep.

Set in the village of Avajan and housed in L'Ancienne Poste, an 1880s former post office rebuilt by hand, the chalet is your basecamp for the mountains: ski Peyragudes (9 minutes via the Skyvall lift), ride the legendary Tour de France cols, walk to the Balnéa thermal spa, hike to altitude lakes, and paraglide from the ridge — all without the Alpine crowds.

Run by lifelong friends Jack and Daniel, we offer two ways to stay: self-catered exclusive use of the whole chalet, or fully catered with a private chef and dedicated hosting team. We welcome ski groups, cycling trips, corporate retreats, and families.

4-star rated by the French Ministry of Tourism. Part of the Coal & Co. hospitality group.
