Steven Read

Steven Read serves as the Executive General Manager for Coates, overseeing the South Business Unit, which includes Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania. With a strong focus on fostering a culture of curiosity and collaboration, Steven manages operational efficiency for Melbourne Metro and specialized mechanical branches. Prior to joining Coates, Steven held multiple roles at UGL, including Operations Manager where leadership of a team of over 60 engineers and project managers was paramount. Additionally, Steven contributed to the acquisition and transition of IAS and was instrumental in advancing project management and asset management practices. Earlier experience spans significant positions at Orica and PT Kaltim Nitrate Indonesia, with a foundation in Mechanical Engineering from Curtin University and an MBA from Melbourne Business School.
