Mark Cigan is the Global Head of Genetic Innovation at Cobb-Vantress, focusing on enhancing chicken health and productivity through genetic strategies and genome technologies. Previously, Mark served as the Trait Development Director at Genus PLC, where they led efforts to create the first commercial founder population of PRRS virus-resistant pigs. Mark also held the position of Senior Research Manager at DuPont Pioneer, developing genetic solutions for crop plants using advanced gene editing techniques. In addition, Mark was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, conducting biochemical research. Mark is currently an Adjunct Professor at UW-Madison, co-instructing in the M.S. in Biotechnology Program.
