Juan Leon is currently a Senior Manager of Engineering at Cockroach Labs. Juan has been in the engineering field for over 20 years. Juan started their career at Deutsche Bank in 2002 as a Vice President. Juan then transitioned to Goldman Sachs in 2007, also as a Vice President. In 2012, Juan left Goldman Sachs to join Google as a Senior Software Engineer and Site Reliability Manager. While at Google, they managed three site reliability engineering teams and was a key individual contributor to shared infrastructure, such as the publish-subscribe bus, production alerts, and incident management. In 2018, Juan left Google to join Bridgewater Associates as a Manager of Technology. At Bridgewater, they were responsible for DevOps in the wholesale re-implementation of quantitative financial models. Juan also managed the transition from legacy to cloud technologies and led a transformation into an SRE approach to velocity/reliability. In 2020, Juan left Bridgewater to join Cockroach Labs as a Senior Manager of Engineering, their current position. Throughout their career, Juan has been hands-on in a variety of roles and responsibilities, ranging from scripting to integrate legacy systems to evangelism of SLO-driven product management. Juan is an experienced and successful engineer with a proven track record of success in various roles and companies.
Juan Leon is an ABD student in the field of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Juan has also earned a M.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mathematics from the same school. Prior to attending Carnegie Mellon, Juan Leon earned their Regents Diploma from Newfield High School and their Bachillerato from Instituto de Salinas.
