Tom Schmidt

Tom Schmidt is a seasoned professional in Site Reliability Engineering with extensive experience at Cockroach Labs and IBM. Currently serving as a Senior Manager at Cockroach Labs, Schmidt previously held various leadership roles at IBM, including introducing and developing the Site Reliability Engineering function within the Business Analytics organization. Achievements include building the first SRE team, creating an SRE interview process, and managing global incident response. Additionally, Schmidt has contributed to DevOps services through project management, process improvements, and delivering presentations at industry conferences. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science from Ryerson University.
