Rafa Torres

Director, Interaction Design at Code and Theory

Rafa Torres has a strong background in interaction design and user experience. Rafa started their career as a Technical Manager at Digital Noise, where they managed design and development teams and handled communication with clients and technical departments of major platforms. Rafa then co-founded Shoppiic, where they served as the PR Communications Manager and helped develop a social shopping app. Rafa also worked as a Product Design Lead at upclose, a live video broadcasting platform, and as a User Experience Consultant at Koplin & Propati Partners. Rafa gained instructional experience as an Instructional Associate at General Assembly and as a Guest Lecturer at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. Rafa also mentored startups as a Mentor at Startup Weekend and as a Mentor and Product Advisor at LaunchTF. Currently, Rafa is a Director of Interaction Design at Code and Theory, where they previously held roles as an Associate Director and Senior User Experience Designer. Throughout their career, Rafa has demonstrated a range of skills in UX design, strategy, project management, and product development.

Rafa Torres pursued their education in a chronological manner. From 1987 to 2002, they attended the International British Yeoward School, where they obtained their A Levels with a focus on ICT, Geography, and Spanish Literature. Rafa then went on to study at the University of Hull from 2004 to 2006, earning a BSc Hons. degree in Informática de Gestión. In 2014, Rafa attended General Assembly and completed a program in User Experience Design. Alongside their academic qualifications, Rafa also obtained an Independent O-1 (Extraordinary Abilities) Non-Immigrant working visa certification from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in June 2015.
