Head of Analytical Methods Development at Code Bio

Matthew Roberts, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the field of analytical method development and cell and gene therapy. Matthew is currently the Head of Analytical Methods Development at Code Biotherapeutics since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at GSK from 2020 to 2023, where they were the Director of Cell and Gene Therapy Analytical Development. In this role, they led teams of analytical method developers and contributed to the analytical testing strategy for the C & GT portfolio. Before joining GSK, they worked at GlaxoSmithKline from 2011 to 2020, starting as a R&D Biopharmaceutical TDP Associate and eventually becoming the Manager of Cell and Gene Therapy Analytical Development. Matthew'sresponsibilities included method development, qualification, and technical transfer for the cell and gene therapy portfolio. Prior to their industry experience, they conducted postdoctoral research at Yale University from 2005 to 2011, studying ionotropic glutamate receptors and conducting a membrane protein structure-function study. Matthew also mentored and trained graduate and high school students during their time at Yale.

Matthew Roberts, Ph.D. holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, which they completed from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Delaware, where they attended from 2001 to 2005. Additionally, they have obtained a Lean Sigma Green Belt certification from GlaxoSmithKline in June 2013.
