Bobby Schnabel

Bobby Schnabel is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as external chair of computer science, College of Engineering and Applied Science faculty director for entrepreneurship, and campus thought-leader on computing.

From Nov 2015 – Nov 2017, Bobby was Chief Executive Officer of the Association for Computing Machinery, the oldest and largest society of computing professionals and students. From July 2007 – Oct. 2015, he was Dean of the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University, and professor of computer science and of informatics at Indiana University Bloomington. From August 2009 – July 2010, he also served as Indiana University’s Interim Vice President for Research. From 1977 – 2007, Bobby was a member of the computer science faculty of the University of Colorado Boulder. At CU-Boulder he also served as Vice Provost for Academic and Campus Technology and Chief Information Officer from 1998-2007, founding director of the Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society (ATLAS) from 1997-2007, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Engineering and Applied Science from 1995-1997, and chair of the Department of Computer Science from 1990-1995

Bobby is a co-founder and executive team member of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), and former chair of the ACM Education Policy Committee.
