Carla Castillo is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington since September 2020, focusing on Human Computer Interaction, User Experience (UX), and Web Search. In parallel, Carla has been serving as a Technical Applicant Prep Ambassador for Code2040 since March 2017, aiming to prepare underrepresented students for technical careers. Prior experience includes research assistance at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, where projects involved eye-tracking user studies related to multilingual news consumption. Carla also co-founded and instructed an introductory Computer Science course through Let's Code!, utilizing project-based learning to teach robotics fundamentals. Additionally, as a She++ Ambassador, Carla promoted computer science among women and minorities to enhance diversity in the tech field. Carla holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in Psychology from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington.
