Matthias Niehoff has extensive work experience in the field of data and software engineering. Matthias worked at codecentric AG from 2015 to present, where they held the positions of Head of Data and Principal Data Architect, as well as IT Consultant and Data Architect. In these roles, they worked on various projects across different industries, including software engineering, data platforms, pipelines, and machine learning in production. Matthias also gave talks at national and international conferences.

Prior to that, Matthias Niehoff worked at Provinzial Rheinland Versicherungen from 2008 to 2015. During this time, they served as a Software Engineer, focusing on the modernization of Java-based applications. Matthias provided a framework for the development of insurance-focused applications, modernized the tech stack, designed and implemented integration architectures, and supported internal projects and teams regarding architecture and development. Matthias also collaborated closely with the IT-Operations team to ensure a stable and reliable production environment.

Matthias Niehoff obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Information Management from FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management, starting in 2008 and graduating in 2012. Matthias then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in IT-Management from the same university, starting in 2012 and completing it in 2014. In addition to their academic qualifications, Matthias obtained several certifications throughout their career. These certifications include becoming a Lightbend Certified Spark Trainer (obtained year: 2016), a DataStax Enterprise Solution Architect (obtained year: 2015), an iSAQB Certified Professional for Software Architecture (CPSA-F) (obtained year: 2013), and a Professional Cloud Architect from Google (obtained year: 2020).
