Randall de Groot

Randall de Groot is an experienced research professional specializing in fermentation processes and genetic improvements. Currently serving as a Research Associate IV at Codexis, Inc. since July 2024, Randall previously held the position of Senior Research Associate at Shiru, where responsibilities included building a fermentation lab and executing bioreactor experiments at various scales. Prior roles at Pow.bio and Lygos involved executing bioreactor experiments focused on process improvements and genetic identification. At Zymergen, Inc., Randall designed and conducted experiments to enhance fermentation processes and characterize fermentation data. Early in the career, Randall was a lab assistant at O’Malley Research Lab, where contributions included co-authoring a manuscript on enzymatic proteins and mastering critical lab techniques. Randall holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.
