Javier Vazquez

Javier Vazquez is an Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where they also serve as Vice Dean for Artificial Intelligence at COEINF. Javier obtained an MSc degree in Computer Science from UPC and presented their PhD dissertation in 2003, which won the 2003 ECCAI AI Dissertation Award and was published as a book. With a strong focus on Normative Systems and Distributed Artificial Intelligence, Javier has participated in numerous national and international projects, including serving as the National Contact Point for Spain in the AI4EU project. Currently, Javier coordinates the Commission on Digital Societies at IDEAI-UPC and heads the Knowledge Engineering and Machine Learning Group.
